The Government of India launched mission mode project like ePanchayat, to enable computerization of various services for citizens, ICT enables the panchayats, to increase the access to technology in Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and also the utilization of ICTs to achieve the desired outcomes. Panchayat Enterprise Architecture Framework (PEAF) helped in aligning business objectives and strategies of Panchayats with an IT strategy and execution plan. This in turn created a strategic information asset base that defines the governance mandate of a Panchayat, information necessary to govern, technologies which in turn are necessary to support the governance operations and transitional processes for implementing new technologies in response to the changing needs of the governance. Through Panchayat Enterprise Architecture Framework (PEAF), various state governments can follow a standard framework for their Panchayat business, application, data, technology, security and governance components, thus optimizing deployment of their resources, integration of information exchange across PRI levels ,agility of enterprise and time saving in delivery of various services.
